Size & Colour Grades

From Premium Bold to Blenders' Grades

Whole seed buyers often demand bold sizes and bright green/yellow colour (Parrot/Eagle). But for blending and powdering, we strongly recommend Badami — it's more economical and retains excellent essential oil (linalool) aroma.

The blenders' secret: Coriander is the volume base of almost all curry powders and Indian masalas. While whole-seed buyers pay a massive premium for the bright green color of Parrot grades, that colour disappears as soon as it's ground. Smart blenders buy Badami grade — it is significantly cheaper, yet retains the critical essential oils (linalool) needed for flavour.

Buyer FAQ
What is the difference between Eagle, Parrot, and Badami?

Eagle is a bold, large, round, yellow-brown seed with high oil content (premium whole seed). Parrot grades are prized for their bright green color (often sold whole in retail). Badami is a brownish, highly economical grade that is less visually perfect but retains excellent aroma, making it the preferred choice for grinding into powder.

Why should I buy Badami if I am making spice blends?

Coriander is the bulk base of most curry powders and masalas. The bright green color of Parrot grade disappears the moment it is ground. Buying Badami gives you the necessary linalool (aroma) content at a significantly lower price point, improving your blend margins without sacrificing flavor.

Does your coriander powder lose its aroma quickly?

All ground coriander is prone to rapid oxidation and aroma loss. We highly recommend buying whole seeds (Badami) and grinding them at your destination close to production. If you prefer to buy powder, we use low-temperature grinding and recommend vacuum or N₂ flushed packaging to preserve the linalool content.
