The Lead Chromate crisis: Turmeric is a notorious fraud target in South Asia. Cheap, bright yellow turmeric is often coloured with Lead Chromate (PbCrO₄) — a severe neurotoxin. Our COA explicitly screens for total Lead (Pb) and Chromium (Cr) via ICP-MS, ensuring you receive completely safe, unadulterated spice. A bare "turmeric powder $X" quote without a Lead/Chromium guarantee is a risk we don't take.

Why is Curcumin % so important?

Curcumin % is literally the price of turmeric. Professional buyers compute the "cost per curcumin point" (e.g. ~$1.80-2.20/kg per 1%). A 5% turmeric will cost significantly more than a 2% turmeric. If you receive a quote for turmeric without a stated curcumin %, it is a red flag.

What is the Lead Chromate risk?

Lead Chromate is an industrial pigment sometimes illegally added to poor quality turmeric to give it a bright yellow colour. It is highly toxic. We eliminate this risk by running an ICP-MS heavy metal panel (checking Lead and Chromium) on every commercial lot, with the results stated on your COA.

Should I buy powder, bulb, or finger?

If you are a spice blender or foodservice buyer, our premium powder (Sangli/Rajapore) is ready to use. If you are a repacker who prefers to grind in-house to guarantee purity to your customers, buy whole polished fingers (Salem/Erode). Bulbs (Nizamabad) are generally used for high-volume, cost-effective grinding.

What is the minimum order for a first shipment?

We can ship from 1 pallet (LCL, ~500 kg) for a first commercial order. A free sample (500 g-2 kg) with its COA comes before that — you pay only the courier cost. Full container (~17-18 MT powder in 25 kg bags) is available from a second order or if you are confident in the grade from the sample.

Why clean-COA matters on Turmeric

The existential risk of Lead Chromate. Our COA is the answer.

The lead-chromate crisis is real and documented across South Asian turmeric supply chains. Dishonest packers use it to artificially boost the yellow colour of cheap, low-curcumin turmeric. We mitigate this risk completely: we test every lot, not every batch. Every individual commercial lot gets its own reference number and COA.

The COA travels with the goods. If you need it before the letter of credit, we send it. If your market requires additional parameters (like specific pesticide MRLs), we test to your spec.

Industrial dye used to brighten poor quality turmeric. It is a carcinogen and neurotoxin prohibited in foods.

📉 Spent Turmeric Fraud/Dilution
Turmeric that has already had its valuable curcumin extracted by oleoresin plants is sometimes dried and mixed back into regular powder.
Detection: Curcumin % falls below spec (HPLC).
🪨 Starch & Chalk Fraud/Dilution
Rice/wheat flour or yellow soapstone added to increase bulk weight, diluting flavour and curcumin content.
Detection: Acid-insoluble ash & iodine test.
